Imintji

Imintji is a small Aboriginal community right on the Gibb River Road with a view of the King Leopold escarpment. They run a very basic general community store and sell Diesel (no Unleaded Fuel). In addition, they showcase traditional art in their Aboriginal Art Center, lead tours to nearby rock art sites, and also run a campground 300 m to the west of the community (check-in at the roadhouse). More comfort offers the nearby Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge 1.1 km east of the roadhouse and 300 m south of the Gibb with its 24 tented ensuite cabins that include 3-course dinners, buffet breakfasts and optional liquor and lunch packages. The name is slightly misleading, as Bell Gorge is about 38 km away.
