Home Valley Station

The pastoral lease is currently owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation which converted the station into a holiday resort and an indigenous TAFE academy which offers programs for Aboriginal students and trainees from many communities in the Kimberley. Trainees study practical skills like fencing, welding or concreting, horsemanship and stock handling and also tourism. The accommodation and homestead overlook Bindoola Creek which is lined with Boab trees and has views of the Cockburn Range. Accommodation options are available for all budgets, from luxury right down to bush camping by the river. Parts of the station were featured in the film Australia as the fictional property Faraway Downs, particularly through the cattle drive scene. It’s a very popular place with families (thanks to one of the view artificial swimming pools along the Gibb) and free entertainment most nights attract the crowds from nearby Kununurra.
